Clear Out the Old so You Can Make Room for New!

Is your sewing room full to overflowing with fabric you’ll never use? Or, have you acquired a stash from an estate and wonder what to do with it? It may be time to sort through and donate some of the excess.

An article on Sew Mama Sew does an excellent job of helping you determine how best to pass on extra fabric. The first step is to do some sorting so you can tell possible recipients what types of fabric you have to offer (cotton, wool, upholstery, etc.) . They’ll also want some idea of the sizes involved (scraps, pre-cuts, yardage).

Once you’ve found a place who wants the fabric, work out delivery details. Depending on the recipient you may or may not be able to ship it.

The article ends with a list of 12 groups and organizations who are often interested in receiving fabric. It may trigger other ideas for you, as well.

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest has featured many patterns from vendors participating in the Craftsy Marketplace, most of which have been deleted by Craftsy. It's going to take awhile for us to hunt down new sources for those patterns. In the meantime there are many links to patterns on our site that no longer work. We apologize if this article contains one or more of those links and appreciate your patience while we straighten things out. Thank you!

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
