How to Trim Large Blocks with a Small Ruler

Trim Accurately with a Ruler You Already Have!
If you have a 12 1/2″ square ruler you probably use it often to square up standard sized blocks. But what if you made an oversized block, or don’t have that size ruler?
Fortunately, it’s entirely possible to trim blocks accurately with a much smaller ruler. Karen Walker has written a great article that shows exactly how to do it.
One thing to keep in mind is that once you follow Karen’s math you’ll need to add seam allowances to the final cutting measurement. That’s clarified in the comments below the article (as well as other tips to consider).
