Have you ever been unhappy with a fusible-web applique project that was too stiff? This, and other common issues, have a lot to do with the fusible web you choose and how it’s applied.

In the following video Edyta Sitar reviews four different fusible webs, discussing the pros and cons of each. She also sprinkles in many helpful tips for working with fusible web in general (don’t use steam), as well as for each type she reviews (over pressing makes Heat ‘n Bond stiff).

Edyta often does not sew down the edges of her fusible applique shapes. However, since fusible web does not hold indefinitely, it’s a good idea to outline fused shapes with a zig-zag, blanket, satin or straight stitch on quilts that will be washed frequently.
