3D Fabric Trees are Simple to Make and Fun to Display
Make a Few or a Forest!
These charming fabric trees are simple to make and fun in any fabric style. Make a few for a grouping and show off your love of fabric. Or, add hanging strings to smaller trees so they can be used as ornaments.
The trees start with fabric stiffened with Terial Magic. This wonderful product will make the fabric as stiff as paper so the trees stand up on their own (learn more and see more Terial Magic projects here). You’ll also need fabric glue to put them together.
Change the size of the trees by adjusting the size of the starting squares of fabric. The large tree was made with 8″ squares (and is just under 8″ tall), the medium tree was made with 6″ squares (about 6″ tall), and the smallest tree was made with 4″ squares (about 4″ tall). You’ll need five squares for each tree.
While the trees are simple to make, there is some free-form cutting involved. You may want to make one with stiff paper so you see how they go together before you cut into fabric.
The tutorial for making the trees is from The Quilt Show.
