A Great Solution for Both Seams Pressed to the Side and Those Pressed Open!

Do you sometimes struggle to get seams to match up – and stay that way while you stitch them? This solution may be just what you need to achieve perfectly matched seams every time.

Quilters often overlook double-pointed Clover fork pins so you may not realize that they’ll easily hold seams without shifting. Plus, they are curved on the ends so you can gently pull them out as you’re sewing along.

To ensure nothing shifts, insert the pins with the points toward the edge and you can pull them back while still holding the fabric in place as you sew by the pins. Or, do as Suzy from Suzy Quilts recommends and very slowly stitch over them.

Do you press seams to the side? In the following article, Suzy shows how to use the pins for perfectly nested seams.

Where fork pins really shine is when sewing together seams that have been pressed open. The matched seams cannot possibly slide as you’re sewing them.

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest has featured many patterns from vendors participating in the Craftsy Marketplace, most of which have been deleted by Craftsy. It's going to take awhile for us to hunt down new sources for those patterns. In the meantime there are many links to patterns on our site that no longer work. We apologize if this article contains one or more of those links and appreciate your patience while we straighten things out. Thank you!

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
