A Great Method for Binding Round Quilt Projects

It Works Nicely for Potholders, Placemats, and More!

Do you love the look of round potholders, trivets, and placemats, but the thought of binding them turns you off?

Eilene Johnson from Simply Eilene has developed an excellent, nearly foolproof method for binding round quilt projects. Give it a try and enjoy the polished results.

First, start with fabric strips cut on the bias or bias tape. You’ll find that the fabric stretches and molds nicely to the curves for a smooth finish. Tips for cutting bias strips can be found here.

Eilene uses clips along with Roxanne Glue-Baste-It (pressed dry) to hold the binding in place. The glue does not gum up the needle and washes out when you’re done.

She also likes to sew down the top edge with a blanket stitch for a neat finish.

We could not find instructions for Eilene’s round potholder. The one found in this pattern is quite similar.
