Scatter these charming holiday mug rugs throughout your home for cheerful Christmas accents. They’re perfectly sized for a mug of hot chocolate and a cookie during holiday snack times.
They also go together quickly and are lovely and appreciated gifts. Make a few extra to have on hand for last-minute gifts.
Simple fabric ovals are decorated with holly leaves and berries cut from wool felt (you’ll find a nice selection of wool felt squares here). Secure the edges with running stitches in Perle cotton.
You can also use quilting cotton and fusible web for the appliqued shapes and stitch the edges down with a hand or machine blanket stitch. They’ll look a bit different but will be just as charming.
It is recommended that you wash the wool felt version gently by hand. The fusible applique version made with quilting cotton can be washed in the machine.
