Creative Ideas You May Not Have Considered!

Are you making bonus blocks while working on your current project? If not, there are several good reasons for doing so.

Bonus blocks are a more intentional way of using leaders. Instead of using two scraps repeatedly when you start sewing patches together and tossing them (leaders), use scraps that can be made into useful blocks.

Make the Most of Bonus Blocks with These Great Tips

Not only will you be working through your scraps, but there are many other benefits you may not have considered. Karen Brown from Just Get It Done Quilts has created an excellent video that walks you through the process.

She explains the use of leaders and shows a few of the many different blocks that can be made from the process, including paper-pieced blocks. She also provides ideas for what to do with the resulting blocks.

Quilters who are already making bonus blocks are likely to find several excellent tips to make the most of them. Those who aren’t will learn all they need to know to get started with this great process.

These videos contain many simple blocks that work well as bonus blocks:

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest has featured many patterns from vendors participating in the Craftsy Marketplace, most of which have been deleted by Craftsy. It's going to take awhile for us to hunt down new sources for those patterns. In the meantime there are many links to patterns on our site that no longer work. We apologize if this article contains one or more of those links and appreciate your patience while we straighten things out. Thank you!

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
