This Beautiful Quilt Was Pieced by Hand
Make Yours By Machine, If You Prefer!
When was the last time you hand-pieced a quilt block or a full quilt? Have you ever hand-pieced a quilt? In today’s world with so many beautiful fabrics and quilt designs to choose from, the speed of machine-piecing is a blessing.
However, sometimes slowing down is just as rewarding. Rita Hodge from Red Pepper Quilts discovered the satisfaction of slow-sewing when she hand-pieced this gorgeous “Trip Around the World” quilt.
She chose a beautiful combination of prints from her stash and cut them into squares with a rotary cutter. The 1/4″ seam lines were marked with pencil on the back of each of the 2″ squares. Then, as Rita said:
“This quilt is entirely hand pieced. Hand pieced as in – – – – – running stitch with needle, thimble, and thread.”
