Vary the Colors While Keeping the Value Contrasts for a Striking Rendition!
One giant star makes a beautiful impact in this stunning quilt. Tiny prints are perfect for this project. The fabrics used in the example are from Lotta Jansdotter’s Lilla collection for Windham Fabrics, however small prints from any line will be lovely.
Change the colors to suit your tastes and stay with pastels for a softer look. It’s easy to imagine this made up in darker prints and more vivid colors, too. The result will be very striking.
Choose four colors of similar value against a contrasting background, as in the example above. Or, for a different look choose two colors close in value to pop against the background.
This is an easy project to complete (no Y seams!). The quilt will stitch together quickly, even for beginning quilters who can cut and piece accurately. Just be careful not to stretch the bias edges.
The pattern, by Sam Hunter of Hunter’s Design Studio, produces a 58″ x 82″ quilt.
