A Fabric Train Case Makes a Great Sewing Basket

Make One of Two Sizes or Both!
This clever fabric sewing basket is similar to a train case. It’s perfect for hauling supplies to class and can be organized to fit your tools.
It’s also great for jewelry and cosmetics, crafts supplies, and other things you tend to travel with. The case makes a wonderful gift, too.
Choose between two sizes and customize the pockets to fit what you want to carry. The larger size is good for most of your tools, while the smaller size is perfect for individual projects.
A piece of plastic canvas creates a firm bottom, while Soft and Stable by Annie (find it here) provides structure for the rest of the case. Hair elastics are cleverly used for thread holders.

Choose two complementary fabrics and make this case uniquely yours.
The pattern, from Tree Top Threads Studio, includes instructions for the following sizes:
- Large: 9 1/2″ x 5″ x 6″
- Small: 8 1/2″ x 5″ x 3 3/4″
PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest has featured many patterns from vendors participating in the Craftsy Marketplace, most of which have been deleted by Craftsy. It's going to take awhile for us to hunt down new sources for those patterns. In the meantime there are many links to patterns on our site that no longer work. We apologize if this article contains one or more of those links and appreciate your patience while we straighten things out. Thank you!
PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
