Butterfly Blocks Make a Striking Quilt

Omit the Antennae for Charming Star Blocks!
It may take a second look to realize that this striking quilt is made up of butterfly blocks. The antennae give them away, but the quilt is just as beautiful without them.
Choose a pretty combination of fat quarters to depict the patchwork-like butterfly wings. You can also make a four-color combination that emphasizes the star-shaped blocks.
While the example was made from colorful solids, prints will be beautiful too. Small-scale prints will give the quilt a pretty vintage look. This is also a great project for scraps.
The quilt is constructed using Flying Geese units, half-square triangles, and strip piecing. For best results, take your time and ensure that the points aren’t lost in seams.
