The Block Can Be Used in Many Types of Projects!

This beautiful block is perfect for a St. Patrick’s Day project or display it in your sewing area for lucky sewing all year long. The charming shamrock sprouting from a spool of thread is so whimsical and fun.

Finish one block into a charming wall or table quilt, with or without added borders. Combine three blocks for a runner, add one to the front of a tote, or turn one into a throw pillow. These are just a few ideas of what you can do with this delightful block.

While bright greens are perfect for the block, soft greens, grays, and other springtime colors will be just as charming. You’ll find several examples to inspire you here.

There are small pieces in the block so it may not be suitable for beginners. However, for those with solid cutting and piecing skills, this is a great project for pushing the boundaries a bit and refining your techniques. Use Alphabitties or another method to keep all of the pieces organized.

You’ll find a video tutorial here to help you (the Block of the Month she mentioned is over but you can find all 12 block patterns here). It’s an excellent video with many great piecing tips that can be used with other projects.

The block designed by Heather Briggs from My Sew Quilty Life finishes at 14″ square.

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest has featured many patterns from vendors participating in the Craftsy Marketplace, most of which have been deleted by Craftsy. It's going to take awhile for us to hunt down new sources for those patterns. In the meantime there are many links to patterns on our site that no longer work. We apologize if this article contains one or more of those links and appreciate your patience while we straighten things out. Thank you!

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
