Use Wool Felt or Quilt Fabric for the Cute Turkey!

Add a touch of whimsy to your harvest kitchen with this fun hot pad. Make one or more of the cute turkey potholders to brighten your workspace and table. It also makes a charming hostess gift for the Thanksgiving chef.

This is a quick project and a fun way to use scraps. The tail, which forms the hot pad shape, is constructed using paper piecing. It’s super simple to do and a great starter project if you’ve been wanting to learn this technique.

Turkey Hot Pad Tutorial

The turkey is made from wool felt and stitched down by hand. He could also be constructed from quilt fabric using fusible appliqué finished with machine stitching.

Staci from Crafty Staci provides instructions for making your own in a detailed tutorial. The completed hot pad is about 8″ square and is made heat-proof with Insul-Bright or another insulated batting.

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
