Many Can Be Repurposed From Common Household Items!

Handwork projects are great for using those odd bits of time when away from your sewing room. Whether you’re waiting for an appointment, on a trip, or enjoying the fresh air on the porch or in your garden, you can use the time to make progress on a hand-sewing project.

English paper piecing is one type of project that quilters often carry with them, and hand appliqué is another, but there are others, as well. Whatever you’re working on will need to be stored in a convenient container for easy toting.

Creative Ways to Store Handwork Projects

American Patchwork & Quilting created a helpful video outlining several sewing totes for handwork projects. Several can be made from things you may already have, although a few are purchased. Their suggestions may provide just the right solution for your project.

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest has featured many patterns from vendors participating in the Craftsy Marketplace, most of which have been deleted by Craftsy. It's going to take awhile for us to hunt down new sources for those patterns. In the meantime there are many links to patterns on our site that no longer work. We apologize if this article contains one or more of those links and appreciate your patience while we straighten things out. Thank you!

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
