Wool Felt Makes It Extra Cozy!

Inspired by an antique greeting card, this seasonal pillow will be a lovely addition to any home. The top can also be finished as a wall quilt to welcome visitors every Christmas season.

The pillow is made from white and red felt or felted wool, making it extra cozy and inviting. The edges of the fused shapes are sewn down by hand, making this a great take-along project.

It could also be made with quilting cotton and fusible appliqué, with the edges sewn down by machine (layer it up first and sew through all layers to quilt as you go).

Note that measurements include a 3⁄4″ seam allowance. Designer Tina Lewis  says:

“I used a 3⁄4″ seam allowance around the outside of the pillow on purpose. The stuffing in pillow forms never extends to the corners, so the untrimmed 3⁄4″ seams fill out the corners nicely.”

The instructions from American Patchwork & Quilting create a cover that fits a 12″ × 16″ pillow form.

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
