Choose Between 3 Flower Styles!

These tiny patchwork flowers are both pretty and a wonderful use for your most precious small scraps. Since they’re sewn by hand, they’re also great take-along projects for car rides, waiting rooms, and other times when you’ll be sitting for a while.

Applique the flowers onto bags, pouches, and small quilts. You can also add felt and a pin to the back for a lovely brooch. The brooches are beautiful gifts for many occasions.

Designer Emma Jones from Vintage Sewing Box does not specify the size of the completed flowers, but the photos show that they’re quite small.

Emma provided a video demonstrating how the Hex Petal Flower and Jewel Star Flower are made. She also shows a pretty small Dresden Flower appliqued onto a background and displayed in a small hoop (more about that in a minute).

The Dresden Flower can also be used to decorate bags and other projects. It measures about 3 3/4″ from tip to tip, and the straight side of each petal is approximately one inch.

There are also templates for a larger version that measures approximately 6 1/4″ from rounded petal to rounded petal and about 7 5/8″ from pointed petal to pointed petal.

Emma provides the templates and a video tutorial at the following link.

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest has featured many patterns from vendors participating in the Craftsy Marketplace, most of which have been deleted by Craftsy. It's going to take awhile for us to hunt down new sources for those patterns. In the meantime there are many links to patterns on our site that no longer work. We apologize if this article contains one or more of those links and appreciate your patience while we straighten things out. Thank you!

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
