Change the Fabrics and Easily Turn This Into a Spring Robin!

This charming little mug rug reminds us of birds gathering around the bird feeder in the winter, and scoping out the best nesting spots early in the spring.

While we love the fabrics the designer chose, we’d substitute winter-look fabrics to make it less Christmasy and use this mug rug all winter long.

It would be so easy to make this into a spring robin, too! Spring fabrics, minus the white “snow”, will be just right and so charming.

In fact, it would be fun to enlarge the pattern and make either version a wall hanging. You’ll find instructions here.

The mug rug is very easy to make. Just combine simple patchwork with fusible applique to create this quick project. Complete instructions and applique templates are included.

The finished size is about 9″ x 6″.

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest has featured many patterns from vendors participating in the Craftsy Marketplace, most of which have been deleted by Craftsy. It's going to take awhile for us to hunt down new sources for those patterns. In the meantime there are many links to patterns on our site that no longer work. We apologize if this article contains one or more of those links and appreciate your patience while we straighten things out. Thank you!

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article).
