This Set Would be Lovely in 30’s Repro Scraps, Too!
Choose fabrics in a color you love for this hexagonal table mat and coasters. Add trim to the outside edge for a more delicate touch, or you may want to leave it off if you choose a bold color. A fussy cut would be lovely in the center, as well.
There’s not much contrast between the fabrics, in either value or color, other than the darker center hexie. That gives the mat a unified look. More contrast may not work as well because of the differing lengths of the strips, although careful placement might be stunning.
This would be charming with a scrappy look, too, rather than the single colorway as shown here. Just choose fabrics of about the same value for the strips.
There is no binding so this will be a quick and easy project to complete. The mat and coasters would make great gifts, too.
The finished sizes are:
- Table Mat: 15 3/4″ x 13 3/4″
- Coaster: 4 1/4″ x 3 3/4″.
PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest has featured many patterns from vendors participating in the Craftsy Marketplace, most of which have been deleted by Craftsy. It's going to take awhile for us to hunt down new sources for those patterns. In the meantime there are many links to patterns on our site that no longer work. We apologize if this article contains one or more of those links and appreciate your patience while we straighten things out. Thank you!
PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
