Never Make the Wrong Choice Again!

Do you struggle with choosing batting for your beautifully pieced tops? If so, don’t feel alone. This is an area where many quilters get stuck, and for good reason. There are several types, styles and brands of batting to choose from and each one will affect the finished quilt differently.

The batting choice can make or break a quilt, but don’t panic. It helps to have a good idea of what you want before making your selection.

How to Choose the Right Batting for Your Quilt

Do you want a thin quilt or a thick one? Will it be hand or machine quilted? Is the quilting more important or the piecing? Do you want your quilt to drape nicely or is it a wall quilt where that’s not so important? Will you wash the quilt frequently? These are a few of the factors that go into selecting the right batting.

Fortunately, Suzy from Suzy Quilts has considered all of these issues and more, and has written an excellent article to help you decide. She covers the types of batting available, brands, thicknesses, bearding, terminology and more.

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest has featured many patterns from vendors participating in the Craftsy Marketplace, most of which have been deleted by Craftsy. It's going to take awhile for us to hunt down new sources for those patterns. In the meantime there are many links to patterns on our site that no longer work. We apologize if this article contains one or more of those links and appreciate your patience while we straighten things out. Thank you!

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
