Perfect for Leftover Strips of Fabric!

The traditional Churn Dash block takes on a whole new look in this scrappy version. It can be finished up into hot pads or use the blocks in a larger project.

Dig through your scraps and pull out the thin strips. They don’t all need to be the same width, and in fact the block is more interesting if they aren’t.

Scrappy Churn Dash Block Tutorial

Once the strips are sewn together the block is constructed in the usual way. Play with fabric selection to give it different personalities.

The finished block, from Crazy Mom Quilts, is 9″ square.

The block is perfect for hot pads. Rounded corners give them a polished look. Instructions are provided by Crazy Mom Quilts for simple hot pads. Just substitute the Scrappy Churn Dash block for the pieced front.
