According to the designer, and we agree:

“Gift Wrap” is super-easy and quick to sew. It’s such versatile design: it looks great in bright florals, would be stunning in solids (how ’bout silk, or linen?), and even works with novelty prints.”

If pillows aren’t your thing, consider finishing off a pillow top for use as a table topper. The 24″ x 24″ square version is perfect for this.

Or, use the 12″ x 16″ size for place mats. The following photo of pillow coverings waiting for pillows shows how beautiful they would be.

For place mats or a table topper, complete the tops, quilt and add a binding. Or sew on the backing, face down to the quilted top, around the outside edges leaving a space to turn it. You may then want to top stitch around the outside edges.

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest has featured many patterns from vendors participating in the Craftsy Marketplace, most of which have been deleted by Craftsy. It's going to take awhile for us to hunt down new sources for those patterns. In the meantime there are many links to patterns on our site that no longer work. We apologize if this article contains one or more of those links and appreciate your patience while we straighten things out. Thank you!

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article).
