Protect Fingers from Hot Dinner Plates with This Microwave Cozy
It’s a Quick and Easy Project!
Do you ever heat a plate of leftovers in the microwave? If so, you know those plates can get hot.
This dinner plate cozy is the perfect solution. It’s sized to fit a standard 10.5″ dinner plate and will protect your hands from hot plates.
If you’re ever going to put the cozy in the microwave, be sure to use 100% cotton fabric, batting, and thread (Wrap n Zap Batting is a good choice for cozies). Poly can melt, while cotton won’t, although as with bowl cozies, it may not be safe to put a dinner plate cozy in the microwave for an extended period of time (intervals of no longer than 2 minutes are recommended).
One plate cozy can be made from two fat quarters or scraps of at least 13″ square. Three cozies can be made from a yard of fabric. The cozies are reversible and washable.
