First up is this charming heart-shaped pocket. Tuck in a note, a few sweets, dried flowers, or other treats. You can also add a hanging loop so it can be hung for display.
Dress up the heart with embellishments, if you want, as Tricia Mahoney did in her example shown above. The completed pocket designed by Cassandra Dee from FantabulOsew is about 6″ x 6″.
Decorate a mason jar with a wrap featuring appliqued hearts for a special homemade gift. Fill the jar with treats, a homemade baking mix, or anything the recipient will enjoy. The jar is also a fun way to store treats and other items all year long. The wrap was designed by Deb from Deb’s Days Designs.
This cute coaster set is a simple project for your home, parties, and get-togethers. It’s also a great project for beginners. Dig into your scraps, pull out a color combination you enjoy, and have fun watching the coasters come together. The coasters designed by Deb from Deb’s Days Designs are 5″ x 5″.
A paper-pieced heart adorns this charming pot holder designed by Charise from Charise Creates. The heart block can be used in other projects as well. Feature a fussy cut motif in the center or just use a pretty print. Instructions are provided for two block sizes:
- 7 1/4″ x 8″ finished block
- 5 1/2″ x 6″ finished block
A free tutorial for turning the small block into a pretty potholder can be downloaded at the following link. The pot holder (or mug rug) measures 8″ square.
This sweet little bag fits in the palm of your hand. It’s great for storing cards and other small odds and ends and is held closed with a snap. The little purse is also a lovely way to give gift cards during the holidays. Plus, it’s an easy project that can be made with or without the appliqued heart.
The completed bag, designed by Pippa from Craft Pixie, is 5.5” wide x 4” high x 1” deep.
Repurpose denim from old jeans into a charming set of coasters. You can also use new lighter-weight denim or cotton prints for any season. The hearts are created with fusible applique outlined with a satin stitch, which creates hearts on the backs of the coasters. Pinked outside edges make for a super quick finish or bind them if you prefer.
The coasters from Deb at Deb’s Days Designs are 5″ x 5″.
