Red Scraps Make a Lovely Runner

Pull out your red scraps for a simple string pieced runner. It’s perfect for Valentine’s Day and Christmas. Or make it up in colors you’ll enjoy all year long.
This is a simple project that will go together quickly. The designer used pages from an old phone book for the foundation for string piecing. If you want to skip having to remove the paper you can use squares of fabric, instead, and leave them in.
Vary the width of the strips to add more variety to your runner. And, the more fabrics the merrier. Just be mindful of value, as the designer demonstrates in her tutorial.
The finished runner, designed by Connie Kresin Campbell from Freemotion by the River, is 14″ x 36″.
