I quickly superimposed my team’s block M on the mug rug photo so you can see how it might look. Every fan I know would love to find this in their Christmas stocking!

 

You could also cut a team logo from a fabric panel or other team fabric and applique it onto the football. You might make the binding in team colors, as well.
