Scrappy Flying Geese Units Make a Wonderful Quilt
Make a Few at a Time Until It’s Done!
This beautiful quilt is a wonderful example of what can happen when a project is tackled a bit at a time.
Rather than attempting to sew all of the Flying Geese units at once, Sheryl Johnson from Temeculca Quilt Company set aside time every Wednesday to make eight units. After 33 weeks she had enough for this charming quilt.
Each unit finishes at 2-1/2″ x 5″, but you can make yours any size you want. Sheryl recommends the chart found on Moonlight Quilters (from Dani Fisk) for a quick 4-at-a-time tutorial and size chart. Click here for the chart, then click on the chart image for a large printable version.
Scraps are perfect for this quilt. Or use a wide variety of fabrics to achieve a scrappy look.
Sheryl’s quilt finished at 55″ x 65″, however you can easily adjust the size by adding or deleting Flying Geese units.
