Or Make One for a Table Centerpiece!
Why settle for square or rectangular placemats when you can step outside the box and dress your table with eye-catching octagonal ones? These placemats are fun on the table and simple to make.
Since the placemats are constructed from half-square triangles, this project is suitable for quilters of most skill levels. Start with a great combination of prints, whether new or from your stash.

Mix and match colors for a fun scrappy look or use a more coordinated color theme. The placemats are also charming in seasonal color palettes. Photoshop allows us to see examples in slightly different colors.

The placemats designed by Liz Johnson from Sew 4 Home are approximately 17” x 17” with 5¾” diagonal corners. Excellent instructions clearly cover every aspect of making them.

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest has featured many patterns from vendors participating in the Craftsy Marketplace, most of which have been deleted by Craftsy. It's going to take awhile for us to hunt down new sources for those patterns. In the meantime there are many links to patterns on our site that no longer work. We apologize if this article contains one or more of those links and appreciate your patience while we straighten things out. Thank you! PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
