Know Right Away of the Bobbin Tension is the Problem!
If your machine is having tension problems and nothing seems to help, it may be the tension regulator on the bobbin case that’s causing the issue. The bobbin tension may be either too loose or too tight.
There’s a quick test that will help you quickly determine whether or not the bobbin case is the culprit. An article from Cool Cottons shows you how.
The article also tells you exactly how to tighten or loosen the tension on the bobbin case. Be careful. Start with a small change and go from there.
Of course, you won’t know for sure if the adjustment is exactly right until you sew a test line of stitching. But, this simple test should help you determine whether or not the bobbin is the issue.
A good article from She’s a Sewing Machine Mechanic provides additional information about tension issues. Read it here.

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest has featured many patterns from vendors participating in the Craftsy Marketplace, most of which have been deleted by Craftsy. It's going to take awhile for us to hunt down new sources for those patterns. In the meantime there are many links to patterns on our site that no longer work. We apologize if this article contains one or more of those links and appreciate your patience while we straighten things out. Thank you!
PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
