Easy Patchwork Wows with its Simplicity!

The simple design of this quilt proves that patchwork doesn’t need to be complex to wow us with its beauty. The colors and fabric in this quilt make it simply stunning.

Simple patchwork squares in a variety of flannel fabrics make a luscious and cozy quilt.

Black and Red Plaid Flannel Quilt

No exact pattern is provided, but according to the designer, Amy Smart of Diary of a Quilter:

“For this quilt I bought 1/4 or 1/2 yards and cut them into 9″ squares. (You can get four 9″ x 9″ squares from 1/4 yard.) I laid out the quilt 8 squares across x 10 squares down for a 68″ x 85″ throw-size quilt. (You would need about 10 half yards or 20 quarter yards to make this quilt top.)”

Of course, you can alter the size and/or number of squares to produce the size quilt you want. Just be sure to include an extra 1/2″ on both sides of the squares for the seam allowances (1/4″ seams).

Amy has several other helpful tips in the comments section of her post about this quilt. Read through her article and the comments before you begin making your own.

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest has featured many patterns from vendors participating in the Craftsy Marketplace, most of which have been deleted by Craftsy. It's going to take awhile for us to hunt down new sources for those patterns. In the meantime there are many links to patterns on our site that no longer work. We apologize if this article contains one or more of those links and appreciate your patience while we straighten things out. Thank you!

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
