Airy Floral Prints Give it the Appeal of a Watercolor Quilt!

Log Cabin quilts have long been favorites of both quilters and those who love quilts. They’re fairly simple to make and they provide many design options.

The follow quilt-in-process, by mcdaniel023, gives the Log Cabin quilt a whole new look. Airy floral fabrics, perfectly set off by pale green, are combined in a way that reminds us of watercolor quilts.

While no exact pattern is provided, the quilt’s creator does provide enough clues so that experienced quilters can create their own version of what is sure to be a spectacular quilt.

I made 54 blocks. It took a couple of hours to sew, trim and press each round of logs. I spent a day squaring. pressing and starching the blocks.

My advise is to not hurry if you are strip piecing. You need to be very accurate or the blocks get out of whack.
Square up halfway thru, then again after all logs are added.

I didn’t have a pattern. My floral logs are 2 1/2 inches and the greens are 1 1/2. I looked at pinterest to get ideas for layouts. Start in the middle laying out the blocks. Take a picture when finished to make sure they are in the correct direction.

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest has featured many patterns from vendors participating in the Craftsy Marketplace, most of which have been deleted by Craftsy. It's going to take awhile for us to hunt down new sources for those patterns. In the meantime there are many links to patterns on our site that no longer work. We apologize if this article contains one or more of those links and appreciate your patience while we straighten things out. Thank you!

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
