This Quilt is a Glorious Use of Scraps
Adjust the Size of the Quilt by Altering the Size of the Half-Square Triangles!
A wide variety of 2 1/2″ squares in light and dark shades make up this stunning quilt. The dynamic design is achieved by careful placement of half-square triangles made from those squares.
Dig into your stash and pull out light and dark fabrics. This is a wonderful stash-buster and a great use of scraps. Just stay away from the medium value fabrics so as not to muddy up the overall design.

This is also an easy quilt to make, even for beginning quilters. You just need to be able to cut and sew accurately to create this beauty.
There’s plenty of room here to play with color. Give your quilt a predominant color scheme or go full-on scrappy where anything goes. Add a border or not. The choices are entirely yours.

The pattern is for a 45 1/2″ x 45 1/2″ quilt. Make a larger quilt by starting with bigger fabric squares (and half-square triangles).

I made the exploding star quilt for my son. When I showed him a picture of it he had to have it. I enlarged the half square triangles. It came out beautiful and he loved it
