Make it Larger for a Quick Bed Quilt!

Sew together this charming quilt in just a few hours using bandanas. The quilt is double sided, and is turned instead of bound, so it’s a super quick and easy project.

It will be lovely used as a tablecloth, too. Or, add more bandanas for a larger bed sized quilt. This one is perfect for the summer but make yours any color you want.

Bandanas are available in a multitude of pretty colors, they’re 100% cotton and they provide a charming casual effect wherever they are used. Amazon has a great selection to choose from, which you can see here.

Just be sure to wash your quilt with color catcher sheets, as bandanas tend to bleed. In fact, it’s a good idea to wash the bandanas first, as they do shrink, then use color catchers in subsequent washes.

Bandana Quilt

“Bandana Quilt” found on Pots and Pins. It was made from 18″ squares and measures 54″ x 54″. It has a standard backing, overall quilting and binding.

Bandanas never seem to be the exact same size. That’s OK for this casual quilt. Don’t worry if the corners don’t match perfectly. Or, trim them all to a consistent size if you prefer (it never hurts to cut off the hems so the quilt lays perfectly flat).

The quilt has minimal quilting, but you can quilt it as much as you want. It’s a great project for practicing free motion stipple quilting on once the quilt is turned.

Dimensions are not provided for the finished quilt. It will depend on how large the bandanas are that you choose.

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest has featured many patterns from vendors participating in the Craftsy Marketplace, most of which have been deleted by Craftsy. It's going to take awhile for us to hunt down new sources for those patterns. In the meantime there are many links to patterns on our site that no longer work. We apologize if this article contains one or more of those links and appreciate your patience while we straighten things out. Thank you!

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
