Put Those Scraps to Good Use Making Your Own Little Village!

Are you looking for something a little different for your next quilting project? If so, you might enjoy making this mini houses quilt.

We love the whimsical little houses, which cause you to pause and take a second look at this quilt. Some of the details are applied with raw edge applique, making the quilt easier to construct than it appears at first glance.

Mini House Quilt Tutorial

This is a great opportunity to get out all those small-scale-print fabric leftovers you’ve been saving. You’ll have fun selecting your fabrics and constructing your own little village of charming houses with shrubs and front lawns!

The quilt is based on Thimble Blossom’s popular Swoon block (which was featured in this table topper tutorial).

Elizabeth at OPQuilt.com has provided an excellent tutorial and a free pattern for making your own mini-house quilt.

She also provides excellent instructions for fabric selection, as well as construction.

The finished quilt is 18″ x 18″.

Download the free pattern here.

Go here for Elizabeth’s tutorial. (This link is currently not working – we’re leaving it here in case it returns – but you don’t really need it to make the quilt.)

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest has featured many patterns from vendors participating in the Craftsy Marketplace, most of which have been deleted by Craftsy. It's going to take awhile for us to hunt down new sources for those patterns. In the meantime there are many links to patterns on our site that no longer work. We apologize if this article contains one or more of those links and appreciate your patience while we straighten things out. Thank you!

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
