How to Get Even Stitches with Free Motion Quilting

One of the challenges of free motion quilting is getting evenly sized stitches. Practice is the key, of course, but it’s also helpful to understand why they’re uneven to begin with.

In the following video Rob Appell does an excellent job of walking a beginning free-motion quilter through the steps, with an emphasis on getting even stitches. He provides many interesting and helpful tips along the way.

His “guinea pig” for the video is none other than Jenny Doan. If you’ve been around the Internet quilt world for long you know how engaging Jenny is. The two of them together are a lot of fun, besides being quite informative.
