This Scrappy Neighborhood Wall Quilt Will Brighten Any Room
Use Up Some of Those Fabric Scraps on These Fun Houses!
There’s just something about house quilts. They’re homey, cozy, and in this case, a burst of color to display anywhere in your home.
We love the vivid fabrics used in this version by designer Tina Curran. She was inspired by the wonderful quilts of Freddie Moran. The vividly colored fabrics are set off with black and white fabrics, making the colors pop even more.
The result is an artistic quilt that you’ll be happy to display on any wall or drape over a table.
The finished quilt is 36″ x 36″. You can easily make it bigger or smaller by increasing or decreasing the number of house blocks.
The pattern specifies paper piecing, but you can easily used the diagrams to create templates for patchwork piecing on your machine.
Tina’s scrappy version gives you the opportunity to use up some of those fabric scraps. Or, coordinate the fabrics into any colorway you prefer.
Whatever colors and fabrics you prefer, your finished quilt will depict a lovely “sought-after” neighborhood of houses as fun and quirky as you choose to make them.
