Leaves twine in a gentle curve across the surface of this lovely table runner, making it perfect for a spring or summer table. Matching napkins complete the fresh look.
Close quilting around the leaves gives them a trapunto effect. To heighten the effect, you could also place a bit of extra stuffing under each leaf while sewing it in place.
Instructions are provided for hand appliqué using freezer paper. However, the runner will be equally lovely, completed with fusible appliqué. Just be sure to remove the seam allowances when cutting the leaves.
The finished runner and napkins, designed by Rhoda Nelson for American Patchwork & Quilting, are:
- Table Runner – 16×60″
- Napkins – 15″ square
