Scrappy Coasters and Hot Pads Are so Easy to Make

QAYG Makes for a Quick Finish!
Use up scraps in easy coasters, trivets, and hot pads. A simple Quilt-As-You-Go method makes them a breeze to put together.
These, from S.O.T.A.K. Homemade, are a bit free form as well. There’s no need to worry about following a pattern or cutting pieces to specific sizes. Just start with squares and strips and fit them together as you go.
Feature a fussy cut motif in the center, if you want, or showcase a lovely print there.
The same technique can be used to make hot pads and trivets. Just add a layer of Insul-Bright batting for heatproofing. Instructions are provided for 8″ trivets here.
PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
