Kids Love Them and Little Sleeping Bags Add Hours of Fun!

Anytime you’re giving a doll or stuffed animal as a gift, consider including a little sleeping bag. Kids love them, and it’s so much fun stitching them up.

There are many ways to go about making little sleeping bags.

3 Bears Sleeping Bag Pattern

Use colorful solid fabrics, simple piecing, or even an orphan quilt block for the front of the sleeping bag.

3 Bears Sleeping Bag Pattern

Experienced quilters may not need a pattern. But if you do, Flossie Teacake’s pattern is well designed. It includes patterns for 3 sizes:

  • Baby Bear – which will accommodate bears up to 8″ tall
  • Mummy Bear – with a maximum bear height of 10½” tall
  • Daddy Bear – catering for bears up to 13½” high.

The pattern pieces are easily increased on a copier if your bear (or doll) is bigger than any of the sizes included with the pattern.

You’ll need to lay the doll or toy out on the fabric to determine how large to make the fabric pieces. Leave plenty of room all around so that the sleeping bag will fit loosely around the toy.

This sleeping bag is simpler than the one above but will provide plenty of play.

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest has featured many patterns from vendors participating in the Craftsy Marketplace, most of which have been deleted by Craftsy. It's going to take awhile for us to hunt down new sources for those patterns. In the meantime there are many links to patterns on our site that no longer work. We apologize if this article contains one or more of those links and appreciate your patience while we straighten things out. Thank you!

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
