Bound Edges Give it a Polished Finish!

Do you like the idea of a sewing machine mat with pockets but know the usual designs will end up in your lap? This clever mat has a cutout for your legs and handy pockets on the right.

Not only does it provide places for the tools you use most at the machine, the padded mat helps eliminate noisy vibrations between the table and machine.

Make Your Own Sewing Machine Mat

Choose a combination of fabrics you love and enjoy putting this project together. The finished mat will be lovely, and useful, in your sewing room.

The finished dimensions are not provided by the designer, Michelle from Creative Blonde writing for Overdale Fabrics. However, the mat as it sits under the machine appears to be about 17″ wide and 12″ deep.

Note that batting is referred to as wadding in the tutorial. A fusible batting will work great with this project.

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
