Decorate Bound Edges with Buttons and More

Finish Your Quilt with a Special Touch!
Are you looking for a way to give your quilt a little something extra? By decorating the edges, you can take a quilt from good to great.
Buttons, fringe, and beads are simple to add and can take any quilt to the next level. While they’re all simple to do, they do take time, so you may want to try this first on a small project. For example, any of these treatments will be lovely on the narrow ends of a table runner.
Katie Chicarello has written a tutorial for Quilting Daily that walks you through the steps of all three finishes. As she says:
“Sometimes, all a piece needs to take it to the next level is a smattering of beads, a scattering of stitches, or a splash of colorful buttons.”
Whether you decorate one, two, or all four edges, any of these methods will make a nice quilt special.
