Start with a Layer Cake for This Beautiful Quilt
It’s an Easy One to Make, Too!
This beautiful quilt will be stunning in whatever colors you choose to give it. Plus, it’s made entirely from half-square triangles (HSTs) so it’s an easy one to complete.
For quick construction, start with a pack of 10″ layer cake squares in your chosen colors plus another 10″ pack for the background. In this case the background is white but play with colors for your own version. Keep in mind that you’ll also need some yardage of the background for an inner border.
In the following video, Jenny from the Missouri Star Quilt Co. shows how the quilt goes together. She used a Clearly Perfect Slotted Trimmer for trimming the HSTs (get it here). You don’t need to have this ruler to complete the quilt but it does make trimming go more quickly whenever you’re making a lot of HSTs.

You’ll need the following to make this quilt:
- 1 Print Layer Cake (10″ Quilt Squares)
- 1 Solids Layer Cake (10″ Quilt Squares)
- ½ yd. Quilt Fabric for Inner Border
- 1¼ yds. Quilt Fabric for Outer Border
- ¾ yd. Fabric Yardarge for Binding
- 5 yds. Fabric for Backing
