Create a Runner and More from This Charming Block
It’s Surprisingly Simple to Make!
This yummy table runner looks complex but it’s surprisingly easy to make. In fact, it’s simple enough for beginners with basic skills.
That’s a good thing because the runner will be wonderful in many color palettes. It’s easy to imagine it in Christmas fabrics, deep fall colors and many other combinations.
Or, make just one block for a lovely wall quilt or table mat. It’s slightly oversized, finishing at 14″ square. Combine several blocks for a larger quilt.
The “Lemon Pie” blocks have large buttons sewn in the centers. Or go with appliqued circles. Either way, those points are hidden for a polished finish.
Lori Holt’s 8″ Pie Ruler is used for cutting the wedges (or any 22.5 degree 8″ ruler). The free 10″ template found here is used for cutting out the pieced “pies.” Hand or machine applique the pies to the background.
Kimberly from Fat Quarter Shop shows you how the blocks and runner go together in the following video. You’ll find a lot of great tips for getting a beautiful finish.

The finished runner is 23 1/2″ x 77 1/2″.
