This Works for Vintage Linens, Too!

Do you have vintage doilies you’ve never quite known what to do with? One way to enjoy them is to feature them in a quilt.

This lovely quilt was designed specifically for showing off doilies, whether they be family heirlooms or those found at thrift stores. Blocks cut from vintage linens could be used, as well.

Choose colors you enjoy and consider how you’ll use the finished quilt. Fewer blocks would create a quilt for your wall, while the quilt shown here makes a pretty throw.

Simple piecing is used to construct the quilt. Ten-inch layer cake squares and a background make for quick construction.

Doilies can be hand-sewn in place or attach them with strong fabric glue, such as Therm-o-Web Fabric Fuse. If you’re showcasing sections cut from vintage linens, substitute them for squares in the quilt.

The finished quilt, designed by Bev from Flamingo Toes, is 63″ x 63″.

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
