Beautiful Florals Combine for a Charming Log Cabin Quilt
Play with Color to Make it Your Own!
This beautiful Log Cabin quilt was given a fresh new look through creative fabric choices. Beautiful Liberty of London tana lawn fat eighths were set off by a textured print that almost reads as a solid from a distance. The result is striking.
The soft, silky tana lawns can be replaced with a pretty combination of small-scale cotton prints. Look for a chambray- or linen-look print or something like this fabric collection for the textured print.
Or go ahead and use tana lawns. As the author reminds us:
“… use a smaller, sharper needle with tana lawn because of the weave. A 70 microtex sharp needle was my weapon of choice, and it worked beautifully. Although honestly, working with the lawn was a dream… it’s more delicate, yes, but it really doesn’t need too much special attention.”
If you choose to work with standard cotton prints keep in mind that fat eighths are likely to be sized a little differently than those cut from tana lawn (9″ x 26″ for lawn instead of the standard 10″ x 22″). You may need to cut a few more stips.
The finished quilt, designed by Audrie from Blue is Bleu, is about 52.5″ x 63″.
