This Intriguing Block is Sure to Attract Attention
It’s Great for Many Types of Quilt Projects!
We love the cheerful colors used to make this charming block and also appreciate how wonderful it is in other color themes. It’s an interesting block that can be used in many types of quilt projects and one that’s often used in sampler quilts.
While it looks complex it’s a fairly simple block to make. Clear instructions are provided by Quilters Cache.
Marti Michelle provided this interesting tidbit about the block, which is credited to Nancy Cabot:
“Nancy Cabot is said to have presented this block, which she called Double Windmill, in her Chicago Tribune column of October 26, 1936, and attributed it to an old Pennsylvania Dutch pattern pieced in Philadelphia as early as 1800.”
Nancy went on to add additional triangles which resulted in the block you see here. Learn more from Marti’s article.
