Raid Your Stash for a Quick and Easy Quilt
It’s a Great Design for Donation Quilts!
This eye-catching quilt is a simple project that makes good use of fabric from your stash. It was designed by Nancy Zieman for her Quilt to Give Project. While you may want to make a version for yourself this is a great pattern for gifts and donation quilts, whether made by you or your quilt group.
There are several possible sizes and layout options provided for this versatile design. Plus it’s a good use for leftover 2 1/2″ strips and other goodies from your stash.
The instructions begin with tips for sorting through your stash and selecting fabrics that will make an attractive quilt. Notice how the long strips between scrappy columns help to pull a wide variety of colors and fabric styles together.
A free tutorial in 10 easy steps shows how to make the quilt in any of the following sizes:
- Twin – 66″ x 88″
- Double – 80″ x 96”
- Queen – 88″ x 92″
- King – 102″ x 92″
For the quilt sizes found above you’ll also need the cutting and planning worksheet found here.
Instructions for a similar 44″ x 58″ lap or baby quilt can be found here. You can easily substitute scrappy pieced columns to create a smaller version of the original quilt.
