They’re So Quick to Make!

Turn scraps into cute coasters to use around your home. They also make nice gifts for many occasions and will be delightful in any color palette.

Start with 2″ squares and sew them into nine-patch blocks. Fusible batting is great for this project, or layer and quilt with regular batting. You can also apply HeatnBond Iron-On Vinyl to make your coasters waterproof.

Use a pencil compass, bowl, or other round item to mark and cut out 5″ circles and apply bias bindings. That’s it! You can have several of these made in a couple of hours (the designer says they take 15 minutes each!).

The completed coasters, designed by Ingrid Alteneder, are about 5″across. If you’d prefer a pattern, one is available at the following link.

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
