Turn Scraps Into Attractive Fabric Baskets
Make the Sides From Patchwork if You Prefer!
One can never have too many fabric baskets to organize little things around the home (or to give as gifts). You could even say that they’re life-changing in how they help control clutter. Fabric baskets are attractive, make good use of scraps, and are usually washable if they get a bit dingy.
These baskets were designed specifically for scraps and therefore are a bit free-form. You can easily adapt the size to what you have on hand (and are encouraged to do so). Bias tape is used to finish the top edges of the baskets or use leftover quilt binding.
The examples were made from fat quarters but whatever you have on hand will work. You can even piece together scraps to create patchwork for the basket sides.
Sew-in foam interfacing gives the baskets structure. While the designer loves Style-vil by Vlieseline, any sew-in foam, such as Annie’s Soft and Stable or Bosal In-R-Form, will work. Use whatever you have on hand.
