Corral Bedside Clutter with a Custom Organizer Caddy
Four Caddy Styles to Adapt to Your Needs!
If your bedside table is like mine, it’s a landing spot for all sorts of things. Besides the lamp and alarm clock there are usually glasses, kleenex, books, magazines, a phone, an iPad and often more. It gets a bit crowded, making it hard to find what I want, besides looking untidy.
A quilted bedside organizer caddy is just the solution. Quick, easy and it will work wonders to corral all the clutter.
This organizer, by Cintia from My Poppet, was designed specifically to house particular items. You can easily adjust the pocket configuration to suit your needs.
We love that this caddy has two tiers, making optimal use of the space. She used pre-quilted fabric but you could easily machine quilt your own (to match your quilt?).
A piece of old blanket was used for the part that slides under the mattress to anchor the caddy. We’ve seen similar organizers with extensions made from quilted fabric, which works just as well.
In the following video Laura from Sew Very Easy shows us how to quilt up a simple caddy in two sizes. While I prefer her simple construction method, it seems like the pockets are rather deep and small things might get lost down there.
I’d add a second shorter tier of pockets in the front like in Cintia’s version, or make Laura’s version shorter. It will be easy to adjust the overall size to fit just what you want to store.
The following caddy, by Anita Murphy, has a lovely butterfly block on the front. You could easily substitute any block that looks great on point.
The finished caddy is 15″ x 20 3/4″.
In the following photo, found on Pinterest, you see a bed caddy hung over the arm of a chair. This shows how versatile a caddy can be when given long extensions to tuck between the mattress and bed springs or to drape as shown here.
Finally, this caddy from Darlene’s Bags demonstrates another way to organize the pockets on your caddy.
Look through all the tutorials and determine what construction method you prefer. With a little creative thinking and planning, you can easily create your own custom bedside caddy. Once you have it you’ll wonder how you ever lived without it!
